Juanako!!!CARPE DIEM 5月19日 Una noche mágica / A magical night
SPANISH:
Lo que unos amigos y yo vivimos el miércoles fue algo que nunca se nos borrará de la memoria; el Barcelona disputó la final de la Copa de Europa (o Champions League, como todo el mundo la conoce) y nosotros estuvimos en Barcelona para ver el partido en una pantalla gigante, junto a todos los aficionados culés!
Desde las 11 de la mañana que llegamos allí, el ambiente en la ciudad era espectacular, digno de un evento de tal magnitud y con la consciencia de que lo que estaba ocurriendo no era algo que ocurría todos los días.
En el 'Mercat de la Boqueria' había escudos del Barça por todas partes, y los pescaderos hacían sonar sus trompetas. El ambiente y la expectación se podía sentir en el aire, y más de uno tenía ya la piel de gallina.
Después nos reunimos todos en Las Ramblas, aficionados venidos de toda España, todos allí con un mismo fin, poder presenciar como el Barça se proclamaba, por segunda vez en su historia, campeón del campeonato de fútbol de clubes más prestigioso del mundo.
Vimos el partido en una pantalla gigante que instalaron en las 'Cotxeres' de Sants; hacía un calor infernal en la sala y el sudor nos caía a chorros, pero nada importaba, estabamos todos allí, todos con el corazón unido en una sola dirección.
Al final de la primera parte hubo más de una cara larga (entre ellas la de mi amigo Jesús, que estaba sentado a mi lado), pero entonces llegó el gol de Eto'o, y la esperanza volvió a inundarnos... sin embargo, cuando llegó el gol de Belletti tan solo unos minutos después, la sala literalmente explotaba de alegría, todos sabíamos lo que estaba ocurriendo, pero no nos lo podíamos creer aún... no por supuesto, hasta que el colegiado, que casi nos roba el partido con su mal arbitraje, pitó su silbato tres veces, dandonos lo que tanto nos habíamos merecido; no tan solo porque la afición culé se lo merecía, sino porque el Barça ha demostrado esta temporada, con su estilo exquisito, que el mejor fútbol del mundo se juega ahora mismo en el Camp Nou.
No me queda más que decir, mas que viví una noche mágica, y que le doy las gracias a todos esos jugadores que visten la camiseta azulgrana, que en una noche para el recuerdo nos permitieron vivir en un sueño, del que no hemos tenido que despertar.... sois los mejores!!!

What some friends of mine and myself went through last Wednesday night was something that will remain in our memory forever; FC Barcelona played the Champions League final and we travelled to Barcelona to watch the game there on a big screen, along with every other true Barcelona supporter!
From 11:00 am when we arrived, the atmosphere in the city was electric, in accordance with the magnitude of the truly worthy event that was about to take place. You could breathe it in the air, that something was happening, something which doesn't happen every day.
At the market of 'Boqueria' there were Barcelona emblems everywhere to be seen, and at the fish shops the shopkeepers were blowing trumpets. The massive expectation could be felt in the air, and many already had chicken skin on their arms.
Afterwards all of us met at 'Las Ramblas', supporters coming from all corners of Spain, all of us with the same goal: to be able to witness FC Barcelona becoming the 'Champions League' winner for the second time in their history; a championship which is the most prestigious football tournament for clubs in the world!
We watched the game on a massive screen which had been installed at 'Cotxeres' in Sants; the heat in the room was unbearable and we were sweating like pigs, but nothing really mattered, we were all there, with our hearts united towards one direction.
At the end of the second half there was more than one long face (among them the one of my friend Jesus, who was sitting next to me), but then Eto'o's goal arrived, and we were again filled with hope... and when Belletti's goal arrived just a few minutes afterwards, the room was literally bursting with happiness, we were all aware of what was happening, but we couldn't believe it just then... not, of course, until the referee, who almost cost us the match with his horrible performance, blew his whistle three consecutive times, giving us what we had so rightfully deserved; not just because us, Barcelona supporters, deserved it, but mostly because the FC Barcelona players have proved this season, with their class, that the best football in the world can only be seen at the 'Nou Camp'.
I have nothing else to say, but that I lived a magical night and that I thank all those players who wear the blue and red t-shirt, who in a night which will remain in our memory forever made it possible for us to live in a dream, a dream from which we haven't had to wake up... you are the best!!!

Hoy he vuelto de pasar unos días en Holanda visitando a una persona muy especial.
 He estado en la ciudad de Groningen, la ciudad más grande del norte de Holanda, y capital número uno de Europa en uso de bicicletas para transporte,... ¡¡nunca en mi vida había visto tantas bicicletas!! Ojalá el resto de los europeos pensaran como ellos.
Me he enamorado de aquella ciudad y no descartaría acabar viviendo allí, pues ofrece el estilo de vida que deseo para mi futuro.
He subido un pequeño album de fotos que podeis ver en este mismo espacio.

I've just returned today from a short trip to Holland, where I was visiting someone really special.
I've stayed in the city of Groningen, the largest city in northern Holland and number one capital in Europe in the use of bicycles for transport,... never in my life had I seen such a huge amount of bicycles!! I only wish the rest of Europeans were just like them.
I've fallen in love with that city and I wouldn't discard the idea of eventually moving there, as it offers the kind of lifestyle that I wish for my future.

Es la casa de un loco de la informática que vive en Estados Unidos, y que ha montado en su casa, usando más de 20000 luces, el espectáculo de luces y música más impresionante e increible que os podais imaginar. INSUPERABLE!!
Es totalmente verídico; por lo visto la música la transmite por onda FM, por lo que los coches que pasan por al lado la pueden oir.
La policía le ha pedido que deje de montar el espectáculo, no ya por las luces, sino por los atascos de coches que se producen en su calle debido a la cantidad de gente que quiere verlo.

Today is a sad day for us, wrestling fans, and especially for WWE.
Eddie Guerrero had breakfast this morning with Chavo Guerrero and at least one other wrestler, then returned to his hotel room. When he didn't come out of his room in the expected amount of time, friends went looking for him and found him dead.
Guerrero has a long history of battling pain pill addiction, a struggle that was chronicled in a UPN special last year which is now on DVD. There is no firm confirmation, though, at this time, that his death was related to his lifelong battle.
pwinsider.com just reported that wwe has decided to make both the Raw and Smackdown! shows at tonight's combined taping in Minneapolis tribute shows to Eddie. The usual format for the shows has been changed to instead incorporate tributes to Eddie.

These are the four albums that I've got hold of lately and which I've enjoyed the most, if you have a musical taste similar to mine, I strongly recommend them.
1. El último disco de Mike Oldfield es una maravilla, si te tumbas en la cama es imposible no quedarse dormido. The latest Mike Oldfield album is marvelous, if you lie down while you listen to it, it's impossible not to fall asleep.
2. El nuevo album de las Sugababes también es muy bueno, su pista 3, 'Follow me Home' me pone los pelos como escarpias. The new album by the Sugababes is also really good, track number 3, 'Follow me Home' gives me goose bumps every time.
3. Shinedown es un grupo Rock americano, si quereis haceros una idea del estilo que es, echadle un vistazo a la pista 3, 'Save me' Shinedown is an American rock band, if you wanna get an idea of what the style is like, check out track number 3, 'Save me'.
4. Esto es más bien una cosa personal, me encanta Tatu y su último disco es una pequeña maravilla del Europop, el disco es muy bueno pero hay una canción en particular, 'Sacrifice' que no puedo dejar de escuchar. Pero sin duda lo mejor de este trabajo han sido mi jefe Luis, y todos mis compañeros: David, Andrés, Fany, Cecilia, Josefina, Patri, Laura, Sofía y Rocío,... me habeis recordado con vuestra simpatía y buen ambiente lo placentero que es trabajar cuando se hace con gente como vosotros.
Me cuesta creer que ya hace un año desde que volví de Inglaterra,... y también hace un año desde mi visita a Polonia,... el tiempo pasa tan rápido que a veces da miedo.
Estamos en septiembre,... es hora de poner fin a una etapa de mi vida llena de fantásticos recuerdos que conservaré toda mi vida, y tiempo también de comenzar una nueva etapa que afronto, como siempre lo he hecho en cada momento de mi vida, con una gran ilusión.

It has always been my favourite month of the year, it's the moment when everything seems to wake up after a very long sleep and things just go back to normal.
I've done nothing special this summer (and it will most probably stay that way).
I've spent the last three months working at Soler, an ice cream parlour in Burjassot,... the job's really tough, but you get used to it, and it gives you the great advantage of having unlimited access to horchata (a really nice traditional Valencian drink), pastries and 40 different flavours of ice cream
, so I can't really complain.But without any doubt the best part of my job has been my boss, Luis, and my work colleagues: David, Andrés, Fany, Cecilia, Josefina, Patri, Laura, Sofía and Rocío,... you have reminded me with your kindness and good atmosphere just how pleasant it is to work when you do it with people like you.
I find it hard to believe that it's already been a year since I came back from England,... and also a year since I visited Poland, time goes so fast it's scary sometimes.
We're in September,... it is time to put an end to a stage in my life which has been full of fantastic memories which I'll always keep inside, and it's also time for a new stage, which I face, as I always have, with great hope. 7月28日 Un añito más! / One more year!SPANISH:

7月6日 Enhorabuena a Londres!! / Congratulations London!! SPANISH:
Una gran pena para los empresarios y especuladores madrileños que ya se estaban frotando las manos ante la oportunidad que se les ponía por delante de llenarse el bolsillo y olvidarse de las necesidades sociales de Madrid, que, mucho les pese, no está lista para acoger unos Juegos Olímpicos. La ganadora ha sido Londres.
Me ha parecido increible la imagen que nos han transmitido los medios de comunicación españoles durante estos días previos a la elección, que en lugar de mostrar una imagen objetiva y estadística de la situación, nos han querido vender que Madrid era la única opción posible, y también nos han querido convencer de que la candidatura de Madrid nos unía a todos los españoles, y todo ese rollo.
Yo me preocupé de informarme a través de distintos medios de comunicación internacionales; incluso la BBC, por ejemplo, siendo británica mostraba una imagen más cercana a la realidad, y la gente como yo, que no nos cerrabamos a que nos contaran la historia solo desde este lado, ya sabiamos que esto lo iba a ganar París o Londres.
Me alegro del resultado, ha cerrado más de una bocaza, porque sencillamente Madrid no está lista para acoger unos Juegos que, al fin y al cabo, para lo único que sirven es para que unos pocos se llenen los bolsillos en una ciudad que, por lo que he leido, necesita que se construyan más colegios públicos y hospitales y menos villas olímpicas... ¿por qué pensais que Florentino Perez, estaba en Singapur apoyando la candidatura? ¿por lo buena persona que es?

Most the pity for the speculators and business managers of Madrid who were already rubbing their hands at the sight of the opportunity they were gonna have of filling up their pockets and forgetting about the social needs of the city of Madrid which, despite anything they have to say, is not ready to host the Olympic Games. The winner has been London.
I've found unbelieveable the image that the Spanish media has been trying to sell us during these previous days to the election, which instead of offering an objective and based on statistics point of view, they've tried to convince us that Madrid was the only possible choice and also that Madrid's run to host the Olympics was uniting the Spaniards, and all that crap.
I actually took the time to inform myself through several international broadcasters; even the BBC, being British was offering a much closer view to reality, and people like me, who were not restricting ourselves to hearing one biased side of the story, knew that it was gonna be won by either Paris or London.
I'm happy about the result, it has shut more than one big mouth because simply Madrid isn't ready to host the Olympics, which, after all, are only useful for the few who fill up their pockets in a city where, as I have read, there's the need for new public schools and hospitals and not of Olympic Villas. Why did Florentino Perez, Real Madrid president and important construction business manager, go to Singapore to support Madrid's run? just because he's a good person?
Congratulations to London and their organizers, I hope their Games will be great, considering their Olympic tradition, I'm sure they will be. 7月5日 A small poemShe's the one who looks upon me

Hoy he hecho algo que nunca pensé que haría, pero no me arrepiento para nada!
No soy ningún oso peludo, pero siempre me ha acomplejado un poco tener pelo en los hombros y tanto pelo en el pecho, y además me daba mucho calor y me hacía sudar como un cerdo.
Pero hoy, por 11 Euritos de nada, he ido al Centro de estética y me he depilado a la cera, han sido 15 minutitos que me lo he pasado fatal pero ahora no tengo pelo alguno, jeje, es como si me hubiera quitado un abrigo de encima, fresquito y cómodo!!
A todos los peludos que me oigan, os recomiendo que lo hagais, son 15 minutos de dolor (hay que morderse la lengua) pero vale la pena, estoy contentísimo!!

Today I've done something I never thought I would ever do, but I really don't regret it!
I'm not by any means a hairy bear, but I've always had a complex about having hair on my shoulders and so much hair on my chest, and besides, it made me feel hot and sweat like a pig.
But today, for just 11 Euros, I've been to the Esthetician's and I've had it depilated with wax, it has been 15 minutes during which I've gone through a hard time, but now I have no hair, hehe, it feels as if I had taken a coat off, fresh and comfortable!!
To all of you hairy people out there, I recommend you to do the same, it's just 15 minutes of pain (you gotta bite your tongue), but it's really worth it, I'm thrilled!!
6月29日 I miss the UKMany people would not understand how someone can possibly feel homesick of a country which is not his (or hers), how someone can feel more identified and integrated within a culture in which he/she hasn't grown up.
Well, that is my case, probably quite unique (although I believe there must be more people like me out there), of a person who loves a country where he's lived for three years quite as much, and sometimes even a little more than his own country.
Yeah, that's me, ... I love the UK, and today I'm feeling really homesick.
There are certain things others might find shocking, and even disgusting about the British culture, as a matter of fact, I'm perfectly aware that most Spaniards who love their culture could not move over there and agree with me,...
but I remember those beautiful green spring days, those warm summers when the country was filled with foreigners coming from almost every country in the world, giving you an international point of view of things and enrichening you as a person, ...
and even during those long and cold winter days, things like spending the afternoon in the pub with your mates having a few pints, watching the rugby game on TV, then going nightclubbing followed by a round of good old 'Fish & Chips' :-)
You could go to the music store and actually listen to great music, even the contestants of shows such as 'Pop Idol' produced excellent music.
You could switch the TV on and really enjoy it, have a set top box and have 30 digital TV channels and 25 digital radio channels for free.
Have a national channel, the BBC, which I consider it sets one of the highest standards in today's world television in what concerns with quality programming.

To me, the UK is just the place to be; I'm not saying it's perfect, of course it has its faults, like anywhere else in the planet, ... but there's nowhere else where I've felt happier and more integrated.
Just three more years in Spain, that's what I need to finish my studies, and hopefully my good days in the UK will be back, once again! 6月27日 La Princesa Prometida / The Princess BrideSPANISH: Realmente pocas veces te quedas con tan buena sensación después de ver una película, pero esta es auténticamente fabulosa! 'La Princesa Prometida', basada en un libro del mismo título escrito por William Goldman, narra una historia de pasión, venganza, amistad y sobre todo, Amor Verdadero. Que pena que hoy en día ya no se hagan películas como esta, las generaciones de hoy están empezando a olvidar lo bonito que es evadirse de la realidad, viajar a un mundo de fantasía y poder volver a soñar como un niño. 'La Historia Interminable' siempre ha sido mi 'Libro-Película' favorito... que pena que no hubiera descubierto este también cuando era pequeño. Si sois como yo, si en vuestro interior nunca habeis crecido, si deseais viajar a un mundo del que jamás querreis partir, no podeis perderos esto... a mi me ha conquistado. ENGLISH: Very few times I've been left with such a good feeling inside me after watching a film, but this one is truly fabulous! 'The Princess Bride', based on a book with the same title written by William Goldman, tells a story of passion, revenge, friendship and above all, True Love. It's a shame they don't make films like this one nowadays, today's generations are starting to forget how beautiful it is to escape from reality, travel to a world of fantasy and be able to dream again like a kid. 'The Neverending Story' has always been my favourite 'book-film'... I'm really sorry I never discovered this one when I was little. If you are like me, if deep within you have never really grown up, if you wish to travel to a world you'll never want to leave, you can't miss this one... it has conquered me. 6月21日 Batman Begins, menudo torro!! / Boring!!SPANISH: Realmente sentía una gran expectación por la nueva peli de Batman, 'Batman Begins' La Internet Movie Database (www.imdb.com), la que hasta ahora consideraba la fuente más fiable para saber qué pelis valen la pena, le da nada menos que una puntuación de 8,5 y la pone en el puesto 74 de su ranking de 250 mejores pelis de la historia. Siento decir que nunca había estado tan en desacuerdo, puesto que he ido a verla, y me aburría tanto que no he podido ni acabar de verla, solamente considero que será medianamente entretenida si eres un fan acérrimo del comic, pero aun así me parece desproporcionada la valoración que se le ha dado. Una prueba más del 'Sobre gustos no hay nada escrito', dejame que te de un consejo, si nunca has leido los comics de Batman, no pierdas el tiempo con esto. Te dormirás! I'm afraid to say I could not possibly disagree in a stronger way, because I've gone to see it, and I was so bored that I couldn't even finish it, I just consider it will be averagely entertaining if you are a hardcore fan of the comic, but even so I consider out of proportion the great rating it has been given. What the hell does 'Willow' have to do with Christmas? 10- How is it possible that there's never been an accident involving the giant Botafumeiro of the Santiago de Compostela cathedral that swings straight over people's heads? Isn't that a little bit taking their chances? 11- Why when we swallow sea water it surprises us to find out it has a salty flavour? We get out of the water saying: 'It's salty!' 12- Why at swimming pools they make bald people wear swimming caps, but they don't make really hairy men who look like bears wear neoprene suits? 13- Why do we get so cocky when we manage to stand on our hands in the water? Anyone can bloody do that! 14- Why the Aborigines used to cook explorers in a big stew-pot? Where did the stew-pot come from? And why did they cook them with their clothes on? Peel them first! 15- Why did they choose popcorn as the official food for cinemas considering how noisy they are when you eat them? What's gonna be next, trying to popularize eating walnuts in libraries? 16- Why does it excite us so much to open an egg, just to find out it has a double yolk? We call the whole family to come see it: 'Look! An egg with two yolks!' 17- Why do we keep opening the packets of noodles with our bare hands instead of using scissors when we perfectly know that we'll make them fly out of the packet everywhere and make a mess? 18- Why are there birds that clean hippopotamuses' asses? Do they really get a benefit out of this activity? Can't they really find food some place else? 19- Why when you eat prawns or shrimps you always stain your shirt while beheading one of them? What is it, their revenge? 20- Why do we enjoy so much staying inside the car while it's being washed? We stay, in there, seating, and we think to ourselves: 'Let the hairy rolls come!
